How do I apply?

Applications are only accepted on-line in electronic format when a waiting list is open. Paper applications are not accepted. However if someone needs assistance in completing the on-line application they may come by our office from 12 - 5 pm Monday through Thursday.

What information do I need when filling out an application?

The application requires you to list: Social Security numbers and birth dates of each household member. The total gross amount of family income from all sources. The total value of family assets.

 

How long does it take to reach the top of the waiting list?

Approximately 18 to 24 months. Depending on funding and vacancies.

 

Do I have to live in Nacogdoches to receive assistance?

If you are not a resident of Nacogdoches County Texas, you will need to move into the county to be assisted under the Housing Choice Voucher program. If you apply for the Sandy Oaks and Parkcrest communities, you must move into one of those communites at the time of assistance.

 

How long does it take to find out if I am eligible for Rental Assistance?

A preliminary determination is made and mailed to the family usually within 60 days after application. However, eligibility must be verified at the time the application reaches the top of the waiting list.

 

What is needed to determine eligibility for Rental Assistance?
Preliminary eligibility is based on information provided on the application. A final determination must be made before admission to a program. A full application is taken and information is verified, such as:

  • Total household income from all sources.
  • Eligible expenses and deductions are verified and criminal history of adult household members must be reviewed.
