How do I apply?

Call or come to our office Monday – Thursday between 12:00 – 5:00 pm.

Do I need to bring any information when filling out an application?

The application requires you to list:  Social Security numbers and birth dates of each household member.  The total gross amount of family income from all sources.  The total value of family assets.

How long does it take to reach the top of the list?

Approximately 18 to 24 months.

How long does it take to find out if I am eligible for Rental Assistance?

A preliminary determination is made and mailed to the family usually within 14 days.

What is needed to determine eligibility for Rental Assistance?

Preliminary eligibility is based on information provided on the application. A final determination must be made before admission to a program. A full application is taken and information is verified, such as:

Total household income from all sources.

Eligible expenses and deductions are verified and criminal history of adult household members must be reviewed.

What is the difference between Section 8 and Public Housing?

Section 8 is a tenant-based program, meaning assistance is attached to the family.  Public  housing is a unit based program, meaning assistance is tied to the unit, not the family.
